Position Summary
The Vice President, Estate Planning and Trust Administration will work under the general supervision of the Director of Estate Planning and Trust Administration. This position will assist in all phases of developing, implementing, and administering the Crow family’s trust and estate matters. Crow Holdings seeks a seasoned professional with the desire to operate in a high volume, multi-disciplinary position.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities, produce high-quality work, and possess critical thinking skills related to legal and financial matters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with operation of private trust company, including oversight of trust investments, preparation of board/committee meeting materials and minutes, attention to regulatory matters/examinations, and trust reporting to beneficiaries.
- Assist with development and implementation of estate plans for family members and ensure plans reflect current desires, circumstances, and relevant law; Interface with outside counsel on planning, execution and implementation of trusts and estate plans.
- Assist with development and formation of trusts in conjunction with outside counsel, including determining situs, trustees, beneficiaries, funding, and other relevant terms.
- Maintain family foundations, including administration of foundation in compliance with tax laws.
- Assist with structuring and administration of marital property agreements.
- Assist with administration of estates, including probate proceedings, estate settlement and coordinating with internal/external tax, legal and valuation professionals on estate tax returns.
- Assist with planning and implementation of family business ownership structures as they relate to trust and estate planning.
- Administer life insurance program, including payment and settlement of existing policies, and underwriting as policies are acquired or terminated.
- Collaborate with other Crow Holdings personnel (legal, tax, accounting, financial reporting, treasury) as needed in connection with trust and estate planning matters.
- Attend to other matters as needed.
Desired Skills & Experience
- CPA with 4-5+ years’ experience at a major accounting firm
- Experience advising clients on trust and estate matters including planning, implementation, documentation, and administration is a plus
- Experience with private trust company and Texas Department of Banking is a plus
- Willingness to learn state and federal laws and strategies relevant to trusts, estate planning, marital planning, and exempt organizations
- Familiarity with income tax law for individuals, trusts and flow-through entities to insure proper coordination with trust and estate planning
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with document management system (DocuWare a plus)
- Polished communication skills (written and verbal)
- Highly sensitive to confidential nature of subject matter
- Willingness to commit time necessary to meet deadlines
- Flexible with ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing priorities
- Attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an organized workflow
